Positive Youth Development Through Community Service
Allowing kids to feel like they're part of something bigger than themselves provides a sense of meaning and purpose to their lives. However, the various age requirements and restrictions of volunteering make it challenging to know where to start and how to get kids involved, which is why we added community service to our league

Sense of Purpose & Confidence
Volunteering in the community is a way to provide youth with a sense of belonging. Seeing the positive impact of their actions gives them a sense of accomplishment, leading to increased self-esteem, confidence, and a greater overall sense of well-being.
Leadership & Teamwork
Volunteering often involves working collaboratively with others, which provides an opportunity to develop leadership and learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and cooperation in achieving shared objectives.
Empathy & Altruism
As youth are exposed to different life experiences, perspectives, and challenges faced by others within their community it helps them develop empathy and compassion towards those in need, leading to a deeper understanding of social issues and a desire to help create positive change.
Y2S Community Service
Community service projects vary by season but generally follow a common theme.
Fall: As Thanksgiving approaches, many are left without. This is a time to practice gratitude and extend a helping hand to those experiencing homelessness, poverty, or other hardships that prevent them from providing for their families.
Winter: Christmas should be a joyful time for children worldwide, but unfortunately, it is not always the case. Typical activities during this season include organizing Christmas caroling, toy drives, and finding ways to bring Christmas to children’s hospitals.
Spring: As the weather warms up, it’s a great opportunity to show our love for the environment by planting trees and flowers, cleaning up community spaces, and learning about waste management and environmental preservation.
Summer: With school out we have more time to focus on the larger projects Have you heard about the IKEA effect? We’re excited to test it out and help kids develop a sense of resourcefulness and teamwork. All items will be donated to local charities.
Community Collaboration
Through community collaboration, we can cultivate a shared purpose and and responsibility in raising a better society.
