Y2S Sports

Replacing the skills of the ball with the mind, and the only competition is with who you were yesterday.

How It Works

Similar to other sports leagues, we have Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons that run for 12-14 weeks. Each season uses a different sport: soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and either flag football or baseball in the spring, and one community service project.

Our coaches are high school senior athletes,  trained in our curriculum to serve as role models and peer mentors for each player on their team.

Designed For Busy Families

Each season follows an age-appropriate curriculum that uses one sport and one service project to build real-life skills like teamwork, leadership, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

One Practice a Week

Teams practice once a week at a local field or court in Arlington. Each practice follows a curriculum designed to develop specific skills that transfer beyond sports. Coaches introduce skills for kids to practice during player-led drills and scrimmages. At the end of each practice, we dedicate time to work towards a community service project.

One Community Project

We collaborate with local organizations. Regardless of age restrictions for in-person volunteering, all kids will play a role, whether it's hands-on or behind the scenes. At the end of each practice, coaches allocate time towards the community service project, where kids take the lead to practice teamwork and leadership skills.

Structure Of Weekly Practices

Each weekly practice follows a consistent routine that gives kids structure while building healthy habits they can carry beyond the field or court.

Warm Up: Deep Breaths

We begin each practice with deep breaths to promote mindfulness, helping kids focus and stay present. Our goal is to encourage them to let go of distractions and focus on the present moment.

2

Practice

Before each drill and scrimmage, coaches explain specific skills like focus, communication, and emotional control, for kids to practice through player-led drills and pickup scrimmages.

3

Reflect

After scrimmages, players reflect on their performance, highlighting strengths, areas for improvement, and mindset. Coaches also help them understand how these lessons apply to daily life.

4

Ends With Gratitude

Every practice ends with an opporutnity for kids to share what they are grateful for. Whether it's a family member, teammate, experience or something they own our goal is to help kids look at what they have vs what they don't have.
